In our backyard i have what I'm now referring to as the squash empire. It is an enormous mound of heirloom pumpkin plants quietly taking over the back corner of our lot... whose necessary space I grossly miscalculated at initial planting. I LOVE that they are huge and wild, but the problem is I have zucchini plants that are now buried under tire-sized pumpkin leaves. SO my question is, can I cut some of the leaves back so my zucchini plants have sunlight? or will that kill the pumpkin plants?
