Oscar speeches prompting questions from kids...

If you watched the Oscars with your kids it's possible that some of the comments made will bring up some questions and discussions from them.

Was there anything in the telecast that caught you off guard?

I'm with cb2ski. My daughter isn't 3 yrs old yet, but I hope that however she turns out, she will be treated equally. In the meantime, she has already been exposed to gay couples - my best friend and his boyfriend, and the woman who married my husband and I and her wife and their two girls. I loved Sean Penn's comments.

As a Californian who voted against Prop 8, I was proud of him and for the screenwriter for making the statements they did. My daughter is only 1 month old, so we don't know whether she'll be gay or straight but I'd like to think that however she ends up, she will be treated equally.

Aside from Sean Penn's comments. . . . I thought Ben Stiller was hilarious. Joaquin Phoenix looks so ridiculous lately!

I'd have to say that Sean Penn's acceptance speech brought up gay marriage. Still not certain how to field this question with a 6-year-old.
