Positions - Any truth to the rumors?

My husband and I just had our first son and he is the joy of our lives. He's so beautiful and I am experiencing a different type of love that I ever have before. He's incredible.

We're so overjoyed that we cannot wait to get pregnant again and bring a second miracle into our lives. I know this is a little personal, but is there any truth to the rumors that certain positions before/after the "act" will be more conducive to pregnancy? A girlfriend of mine told me to be on my back so gravity can run its course... has anyone tried this? Is there any real research behind these rumors? We're really trying to conceive as soon as possible, we like the idea of our children growing up together and having a brother/sister/friend their age.

One of my friends has a tilted uterus and her doctor told her she's been doing the wrong thing by immediately getting on her back and lifting up her legs. Like CalmBabyRN says above, she was told to go on her belly instead. So, I guess the proper position would depend on your particular anatomy.

There is some truth to this especially if you have what's called a tilted uterus. Women with a titleted uterus may need to stay on their belly afterwards to keep the little swimmers headed in the right direction.

I think that perhaps there may be a little truth to idea that certain positions can help one to get pregnant. For instance in some positions the penetration is deeper thus causing the sperm to be released closer to the cervix which may help the sperm get to the egg faster. But I don't think that there as been any actually medical studies done to prove that some positions can help cause pregnancy over others. The only real suggestion I would make is to have both you and your partner take a multivitamin, don't use any sort of lubricant (except natural lube, i.e. lube) unless you really need it, and (I think the most important thing) just relax and have fun with it. I have seen so many couples (including my own parents) get so stressed out about trying to get pregnant that they don’t until they decide to just give up and then they get pregnant. So yes while you might want to get pregnant, don’t stress over it.

I personally think these are rumors for the most part, it's all in the hands of mother nature:)
