Working out while pregnant

I see a lot of pregnant moms at the gym these days. I even see one lady there nearly every day. I know exercise is great for the baby, but shouldn't there be a limit? I never went to the gym while I was pregnant... but i did go for walks around the neighborhood.

Hi Ladies. yes, times have changed. In most cases, we now know that exercise is good for both mom and baby. ACOG recommends that you exericse on most if not all days of the week. Moderation is key, but so is consistency. Bouncing in and out of a workout routine is not a good idea. If you are concerned about the safety of the exerices you do, you should consider some prenatal fitness classes. For more information on this topic, go to resources at www.strollerstrides.com.

I am getting ready to head oit the door right now for the gym. I have worked out with my trainer 3 x a week doing cardio and strength training all the way through this pregnancy and the previous. I am currently 35 weeks and intend to go all the way to the end. This is my 4th baby (3rd pregnancy) and find I feel better in my day after excercising. I will say that the gym is a regular part of my life pregnant or not so it is no shock to my body. I would have done it with my first pregnancy but it was twins with strict guidelines for no excercise. I also do pilates once a week. i will add all of my delivereies have been vaginal and have only lasted 4 hours. It works for me!!!

I am expecting and I go to the gym about 3x a week. My doctor recommended light cardio to keep my body from getting stiff. I don't do any lifting or running anymore, I stopped when I started to show. I guess I'm paranoid! I don't want to shake my little guy up in there haha
