The 2011 Ne York Fashion Week fun has officially started, and I am so excited about this upcoming season.  We've just completed day 1 but I can ALREADY see emerging trends.  What a source of fashion knowledge! I'm absorbing it all in, like a chic sponge.  

So, at first glance, here's what I'm noticing: 

Color! Color! Color! 

If you want to be a bit daring, consider opting for purple eye shadow.  Yes, this is the season to be bright and bubbly.  Bold baby, bold! Purple is everywhere, but if the color isn't doing it for you, consider blues and greens -- anything to make your eyes stand out.  And remember, when you highlight your eyes, take it easy on the lips.  Pair bold eyes with a neutral shade of lipstick.

Metallics

Here's the fun part: metallics will be hot this season and everyone will find an easy way to incorporate the color into their look.  I'm talking metallic lips, eyes AND clothing.  It's about being daring and taking chances, but stay in your comfort zone because the last thing we need is you feeling unconfident.  If you aren't into rocking pure GOLD lips, then look out for a lipstick that offers shine and sparkle without the help of an additional gloss.  Lipsticks that provide a hint of shimmery gold to one of your already favorite colors is a MUST HAVE this season. Consider  Bobbi Brown Metallic Lip Color (Available for $22)

Cut-outs?

I'm not so sure I'm going to be jumping on this wagon, but it seems that designers are all having 90s flashbacks.  Cut-out dresses and crop tops seem to be running rampant on the runway. 

DO what you want with this information, but I'm not going to support you. LOL!

Sparkle

Are you seeing a trend?  Nothing is muted.  Nothing is simple.  It's all or nothing this season and New York Fashion Week is taking no prisoners!  Every show I've seen so far has incorporated a TON of sparkle.  Even if the piece is created with a muted base, there is that defining layer of "look at me" that proves it's all about having fun and being seen.  I'm in!! 

Decorative Nails

Tuxedo nails?  YES it's happening.  Remember when you were in college and you wore tips and always opted for some funky airbrushing for your extensions?  Well, saddle up my dear because that trend is baaaacccckkkkkk.  Bloggers throughout Lincoln Center were showing off intricate designs from their last manicure.  It's not just about one solid color anymore.  If you aren't combining nail polish colors and creating your own designs, you aren't doing enough. 

Talk about having a one-of-a-kind look!  The possibilities are endless and your arsenal is already stocked with everything you need.
