Gorgeous, silky skin for Summer!
Whether you are in the middle of the big stretch or bouncing back, a skin routine that nourishes and conditions is key. Skin change begins deep within. What's the best way to start? Exfoliate!
Most women know that gentle exfoliation is the key to an anti-aging routine, but sometimes they only focus on facial skin and forget the rest of the body. We always advise people that when it comes to great skin you need gentle exfoliation followed by nourishing nutrients that end dryness and fortifies deep down.
This is especially critical when you are pregnant. Keeping skin in a constant state of renewal (prompted by exfoliation) keeps skin in a state of rejuvenation and healing. It is an easy, important step to stretch mark prevention and will remedy itchy pregnancy skin. We recommend a sugar based product versus salt or seed. Salt dries out the skin and tends to aggravate skin that is already taut and stressed to due stretching. Seed based products can be worse due to the rough and inconsistent grains -- they can really damage delicate skin and we do not recommend them during pregnancy. We love to use sugar as an exfoliant because it is gentle yet effective in skin turnover. For example, our polish couples gentle exfoliation with rich butters and oils so you get top layer reconditioning with deep skin fortification.
The circular motions of exfoliation have added benefits -- it improves circulation for less water retention and fights fat deposits and spongy skin. It is a great way to prep the skin for before applying moisturizing butters and oils to build elasticity and resiliency. Start a dedicated routine of skin protection with a rich butter or body oil just around the end of the first trimester -- try month 3 or 4. After exfoliation in the shower apply your moisturizer for best results
Post pregnancy, you can massage more deeply to work on post pregnancy problem areas on hips, thighs and belly.
