Frequently Asked Questions
How can I ensure that everyone I invite actually receives my invite?
Some people might have stronger than normal junk email settings. We recommend the following to ensure that they get the invite as well as the subsequent notifications that make nesting.com work.
- Send a email from your personal email address to the people you are inviting. In the body of the email paste the invite link and let them know you are using Nesting.com to coordinate your groupÕs activities.
-
You can copy an invite link by:
- Going to the group you want to invite your friends to.
- Clicking on "Invite Others."
- Choose the "paste an invite link" option by clicking on "show me how" at the bottom.
- This will pop up a window that looks like this:
Just click the "Copy" button and the link will be copied to your computerÕs temporary memory (or clipboard). Now, close this window and then cancel the Invite Others window and go to your own email program. Compose a new message to those you want to invite and paste the link into the message. (Ctrl+v in PC or Command+V in Mac) Send the email and those who receive it will be able to get right to the page in your group where they will be able to join. |

I'm already on enough websites. Why should I bother with his?
Nesting.com is quite possibly the first website designed from square-one to help parents connect and coordinate privately and securely between one-another. It was built to reflect how moms already coordinate between one-another in the real world. It's not about making a ton of friends but rather keeping connected with the ones you already have in a way that can actually save you time and keep you on top of things.
The activity happens mainly within private groups centered around shared activities (moms groups, classrooms, sports, etc) and information from those groups is channeled back to each group member's email and bulletin board privately. Events flow onto your own family calendar and photos are kept organized in the context of the things your family participates in, person by person and event by event.
Nesting.com is also very "green." With Nesting.com a classroom or other activity could go 100% paperless in communicating between parents. No more copied flyers stuffed into your kids backpacks...just a simple email that can flow the information right onto your family's schedule, and a place where everyone can go if they need to find out what's going on.
How is nesting.com different from Facebook(tm)?
Facebook is great for getting information to lots of people in an instant, but in terms of "openness" of personal information (your schedule, your photos, your conversations, etc) nesting.com is pretty much the opposite of facebook. Because nearly all postings are done within your groups you can be assured that the information you share or the photos you upload will only be seen by the members of your respective groups.
The bulletin board on your nesting.com homepage is also 100% private. No one can see this information but you. And when you receive a notification that requires a response, the links always take you directly to the appropriate place on the site, ensuring that whatever you post stays in the appropriate group and only goes to those group members that have any business seeing it.
How do I manage Group Member administration privileges?
Within a group any member can add content like conversations and photos. Certain actions like adding events and editing content are limited to certain members that have been given administration privileges. Here's how you mange this...

This will take you to the member's area of your group where you will see a list of the group's members, each of which have a button that says "Edit Admin Rights." Is it possible to create sub-groups or associate one group to another?
This question is easily answered by understanding one, key concept to how nesting.com works. Each member is the hub to which all the groups they belong to connect. MeaningÉno matter how many groups you may belong to the information from those groups flows back to you. Private notifications go to your bulletin board on your nesting.com homepage (and by email) and each of those notifications link back to exactly the right place for you to act upon them. This ensures that you can easily communicate between lots of groups and activities and still be confident that your responses are going to the right place.
And as you RSVP to calendar events coming from your different groups they are all organized onto your private family calendar.
So if you feel the need for a PRIVATE SUB-GROUP simply create a normal group and invite the relevant members to it. As activity happens in that group it will be kept private between those members and everyone will get notifications back to their bulletin boards which is where, as far as each member is concerned, the connection to the original group happens.
Why can't I sign-up? It says there's already an account with my email address.
If this has happened it means you have a temporary account that has been created through a partnership nesting.com has with an organization you belong to. (You likely received an email explaining this and giving you easy access to sign-up, but missed it or your email program may have filtered out the email as junk mail.)
This can be easily fixed by creating/resetting your own username and password. To do this, simply enter your email address below, click submit, and you'll be taken to a page that will allow you to send yourself a special link. Once you do this, you will find an email that looks like the one below waiting in your inbox. (if you don't find it - check your junk email folder)
How do I get group events onto my personal calendar?
Just because there may be a lot going on in the groups you are a part of it doesn't necessarily mean you are participating in everything. That's why only events you RSVP to are placed onto your personal calendar. Nesting.com keeps track of everything you and your family has commited to and keeps it organized by each family member. So, just RSVP for anyone that is attending and it will show on your calendar. You will be able to view your upcoming events in the Family Calendar nest on your nesting.com homepage and you will also receive automatic reminders in your daily bulletin that is emailed to you each night before an event.
When adding events to a group calendar, what's the difference between and Open, Invite Only and an Information Only event?
- An Open Event will notify everyone that is a member of a group (if the Send Notifications box is checked.
- An Invite Only Event will allow you to select specific people to receive an invite. When you do this, only those invited will be able to see the event on the group calendar.
- An Information only event is for things that you would only want to show up on the group calendar as a simple reminder. Members cannot RSVP for these types of events which means they would not be able to automatically add it to their family calendar or receive reminders.
Does nesting.com sync with my existing calendar or mobile device?
Not yet. This feature is coming soon however. In the meantime, your daily bulletin will remind you about any events to which youÕve RSVPÕd the evening before. Daily bulletins are usually received at 5 pm pacific time and will give you an overview of any events in the coming 36 hours.
Can I start or belong to more than one group?
Absolutely. Nesting.com is organized in a way that you can have as many groups as you need or want. no matter how many groups you may belong to, the information from those groups flows back to you on your Homepage. Private notifications go to your bulletin board (and by email) and each of those notifications link back to exactly the right place within the proper group for you to act upon them. This ensures that you can easily communicate between lots of groups and activities and still be confident that your responses are going to the right place. And as you RSVP to calendar events coming from your groups they are all organized onto your private family calendar.
