England head of 2018 World Cup bid says country will be solid choice, commercially attractive
LONDON
England's 2018 World Cup bid team hopes the country will be considered for its sound infrastructure after the tournament is held in South Africa and Brazil.
England's bid chief executive Andy Anson says Friday that FIFA have been "adventurous" in going to South Africa and Brazil. He believes his country has the infrastructure in place to "more easily" deliver a World Cup.
Unlike the hosts of the 2010 and 2014 events, England has much of the infrastructure and is in a commercially attractive time zone for global TV audiences.
England faces opposition from 10 rival bidders for the right to host the cup for the first time since 1966.
